Dancing For Education was established in 2004 by the USA Dance White Sands
Chapter as a community outreach project to train the next generation of
ballroom dancer within the public and private school systems. That year,
White Sands began fundraising to “adopt” elementary and middle school
classes of students, through the World Dance Arts Foundation Dancing
Classrooms program, to introduce them to the benefits of DanceSport in an 8
session series.
In 2005, White Sands adopted 2 schools (Phillippi Shores Elementary and Pine
View School for the Gifted, both in Sarasota County, Florida – a total of
285 5th graders.) In 2006-07, White Sands adopted 4 schools (Gocio
Elementary, Brookside Middle, Venice Elementary in Sarasota County and
Blanche H. Daugherty Elementary School in Manatee County.) White Sands goal
is to reach all schools within its reach and inspire others to emulate its
success.
The collaboration between White Sands and the World Dance Arts Foundation is
a perfect partnership that can be used as a model in other communities.
Joining the considerable resources of amateur ballroom enthusiasts with the
experienced skills of professional ballroom instructors through the
Foundation has produced powerful results and it can in your area as well.

Dancing For Education and Dancing Classrooms is a “fit” for your Chapter, or
an initiative that you would like to support through services or financial
contributions. For complete details on the adopt-a-school program contact

Past White Sands President Bob Beale was an advocate for youth participation
in ballroom dancing. In memory to that wish and his longstanding dedication
to the White Sands Chapter, the Bob Beale Memorial “Dancing For Education”
Fund was instituted.
